Production Blog: Location Picking

For our film, we carefully chose the location, and we decided on Callie's house. The decision process involved several discussions about each of our living situations and what would be most convenient for everyone. Since we all attend Fort Lauderdale High School, it made sense to pick a location that was closest to the school to save time and make it easier for everyone to get there. We started by ruling out my house because I live in Hollywood, which is much farther from the school than the other options. Then we considered Natalie and Janiah’s houses, but they both live in different areas as well—Natalie in Plantation and Janiah in Pompano. Both of these locations would also have been too far for our group, so they were quickly taken off the list. With these options eliminated, we looked at Callie's house, which is conveniently located near the school. Callie’s family was also very accommodating, as they didn’t mind us filming there, making it the perfect choice for our group. Everyone was happy with the decision because it was the most practical option, allowing us to focus on filming rather than worrying about long travel times. It also helped that Callie’s house provided a suitable setting for our project, with the space and environment we needed for the scenes. The process of narrowing down the location was a bit time-consuming, but in the end, it worked out well. The convenience of the location made it easier for us to stay on schedule with our filming. It also helped that Callie was a central member of the group, so there was a sense of familiarity and comfort in filming at her house. This made the whole experience more enjoyable and less stressful. In the end, choosing Callie’s house felt like the right decision for the film, and everyone was glad it worked out the way it did. It was a great example of how collaboration and open communication can lead to a smooth decision-making process. With everything settled, we could focus on the creative aspects of our project, knowing the location was already taken care of. The decision was a success and allowed us to film very quickly.
