Genre Research Blog: Horror

Horror: it is a genre of storytelling that is intended to scare, shock or and thrill the audience.

Camera angles (CAMS): high angle, low angle, Dutch angle, and close up.

Common Mis-en-scene (CLAMPS): dark and rural deserted locations, abandoned and/or isolated places.

Common Editing: transitions, sound effects, music, jump cuts, crosscuts, slow motion, freeze frame, color grading and filters.

Common Sound: breathing, monster vocalizations, food steps, ghost sound effects, stabbing, and/or slashing.

Horror Movie References: Evil Dead Rise, The Pope's Exorcist, The Boogeyman and Get Out.

What elements of the genre did you like? The suspense and the buildup to the plot or climax.

What elements I did not like? The music makes me a bit paranoid, with goosebumps.
